Hello! I’m David Soyars, a pianist / organist with more than thirty years experience as a church musician. At sixteen, I began my first job as church pianist for a small church and have been in music ministry for most of my adult life.

Creating quality worship music is one of my primary passions, and I’m always interested in ways to increase meaningful expressions of music. Playing at mostly small to medium sized churches has generally meant I was the sole regular musician and provided the opportunity to begin gaining experience at the organ console. The organ’s wide variety of sound combinations allows for endless creative sounds and musical challenges.

After 16 years as pianist / organist at College Park Baptist Church in Greensboro NC, I’m currently the musician at Banner Elk Presbyterian Church in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

I’m delighted to continue my organ studies with Dr. Joby Bell at Appalachian State to continue polishing my skills. Whether choral or instrumental, ensemble work is always a favorite for me, as it allows more varied sounds and provides the opportunity to grow, learn, and create collaboratively.

I recorded Peace & Joy in 2012 – modern piano arrangements of traditional Christmas favorites. Read more.
